All CASRO members must adhere to the CASRO Code of Standards and Ethics, the enforceable standard for research businesses for more than 30 years.

What is CASRO?

CASRO represents the voice and values of research. CASRO is a not for profit association whose members are research businesses from the US and abroad. CASRO representatives are executive leaders and decision makers from these prestigious companies. Since 1975, CASRO’s mission has been to advance the business of research while preserving its integrity through ethical and professional standards governing our interactions with respondents and clients. To accomplish these goals, CASRO keeps its member companies informed about the critical challenges and emerging trends that affect the research industry and is proactive in addressing issues that may negatively impact the overall health of the research industry.

Since its inception, CASRO has been a diligent guardian of personal privacy, and its advocacy initiatives over the last several decades have earned a high level of respect among public policy-makers and legislators. The CASRO Code of Standards, mandatory and enforceable for all CASRO members, is a tough, internationally –cited set of industry standards, acknowledged by research companies, client organizations and other associations to be the ethical reference point for the industry. The CASRO Code sets forth the rules of ethical conduct for research organizations in their relations with individuals who provide data or participate in surveys, with clients and other businesses, and with the public in general. Further, the Code affirms legal and self-regulatory accountability that safeguards the rights of the public, research clients, and research businesses.

What does it mean to be a CASRO member company?

  1. CASRO companies maintain the highest level of professional integrity and quality.
    CASRO members must adhere to the CASRO Code of Standards and Ethics in order to maintain their CASRO membership. CASRO members are committed to preserving integrity in the research process and through their membership in CASRO, they also commit to conducting research in accordance with best industry practices. Further, CASRO members exemplify the qualities and image that have distinguished the industry as exceptionally self-regulating.
  2. CASRO members are established and credible companies.
    Applying companies are rigorously reviewed to ensure that they have a proven record as research businesses supported by verifiable references before they are recommended to the CASRO Board for membership approval.
  3. CASRO members are committed to providing quality research, based on ethical, process, and practice measurements and credentials.
    A CASRO member company’s adherence to the Code, conformance to best practices, and commitment to statistical and social science principles sets a quality threshold that exceeds the commonplace.
  4. CASRO members consider education inherent and essential to their profession and work.
    CASRO companies are informed about significant trends and concerns that may influence research quality and access to customer data. CASRO educational programs offer companies a diverse set of training modules . Current examples of targeted issues are panel integrity, quality processes, technological trends, respondent representation, privacy protection and emerging legislative initiatives that might disincent survey participation.
  5. CASRO members are concerned about clients.
    CASRO’s Client Advisory Board disseminates key information to CASRO members about their perspectives on the state of the industry and how CASRO companies can better serve their needs.
