As a member of CASRO, each company/organization demonstrates its commitment to clients and to the public by adhering to the CASRO Code of Standards and Ethics for Survey Research. This Code mandates agreed-upon rules of ethical conduct for survey research organizations.

Membership Categories & Qualifications
Members of CASRO consist of research companies and like-minded research companies/organizations, research departments (commercial and non-profit) and academic research programs.  All employees of member companies/organizations are included in the membership.  Individuals are not eligible for CASRO membership.  Access our Membership Directory to view CASRO member companies and organizations.

CASRO Membership Categories:
Full Service Research Company/OrganizationApply Now
For-profit, revenue-generating research companies/organizations whose principal business is full-service survey research. Full-service survey research is defined as a study in which data are gathered from respondents. Data may be gathered in person, by mail, fax, over the telephone or online, and simultaneously from groups or individuals one at a time. Doing full-service survey research means that the organization routinely renders, or arranges for (by subcontracting parts of projects) complete (full) survey research services, including but not limited to study design, questionnaire preparation, sample design, interviewing, data processing, statistical analysis, and report writing in conformity with generally-accepted professional standards and with the CASRO Code of Standards and Ethics for Survey Research

  • Qualifying companies/organizations must have been actively operating in the business of research for at least one year at the time of application.
  • An organization's principal business shall be full-service survey research if that organization derives over 50% of its total annual gross operating revenue from full-service survey research (no dollar minimum).
  • Organizations that are departments, divisions, subsidiaries, or are otherwise owned and/or managed by parent organizations must qualify for membership in their own right, including deriving 50% of total gross operating revenue from full-service survey research.

Research/Research Related Company/Organization - Apply Now
These categories of membership represent research and research-related companies and organizations that do not meet the definition of full-service survey research stated above, but are actively involved in the research process in one of the categories listed below.  Each organization also agrees to adhere to CASRO's Code of Standards and Ethics for Survey Research and must have been actively operating for at least one year at the time of application.

  • Specialty Services - Apply Now
    Includes data collection agencies, tabulation and coding firms, software/hardware/systems companies, sampling firms and list houses, and the like.
  • Research Departments (Commercial) - Apply Now
    Includes research divisions, departments, and offices of end-user client corporations, advertising and media companies, consulting agencies, database management firms.
  • Research Departments (Non-profit) - Apply Now
    Includes government research agencies, departments, and offices, and research departments and offices within associations.

Cost of Membership
Membership for your company/organization is calculated annually, on a calendar year basis. The initial dues payment must be submitted with the application and the cost will be prorated based on the month and day the application is approved (if before June 1). Dues fees are computed by the qualifying category of membership and the revenue size of your company/organization (see below). Your company/organization's dues level is kept confidential and is used for billing purposes only.

Note: All dues amounts are in U.S. Dollars. To select the correct category, refer to the corporate sales volume in the U.S. from survey research, auditing research, and all other types of marketing or public opinion research combined for your company's most recently completed fiscal year. Note: If your company is headquartered in a country outside the United States, please use your country's currency as the basis for formulating your research volume and your corresponding dues.

Membership Application Review and Approval Process
Each organization’s application for membership must be approved by CASRO’s Board of Directors. Upon receipt, the references are checked and the application is sent to the CASRO Membership Committee for review. If the application meets the approval of the Committee, it is forwarded to the CASRO Board of Directors. The applicant (organization representative) will be promptly notified of our receipt of the application and the status of the application through the review and Board of Directors approval process.
