Diane K. Bowers, CASRO President
Diane, head of CASRO since 1979, has been a member of the Board of Advisors of four U.S. graduate programs in marketing research. In 2006 she received the "Research Industry Impact and Prestige Award” from the Master of Marketing Research Program at the School of Business of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Diane is a Past President of the Market Research Council (MRC), the Research Industry Coalition (RIC), and the Council for Marketing and Opinion Research (CMOR).
Lynnette Cooke, Global CEO, Kantar Health; Chair, 2014
As Global CEO, Lynnette leads Kantar Health’s global business and guides the organization through organic and acquisition-related growth. Known as a great connector of people, she creates diverse teams to challenge each other and generate the best ideas for serving clients. Drawing on her consumer background and product management experience at Newell Rubbermaid, Lynnette brings fresh and innovative perspectives to the development of Kantar Health offers and services with a distinct focus on the patient. Lynnette serves on the CASRO board of directors and on the advisory board for the Master of Science in Marketing Research at Michigan State University. In 2010, she was named one of the 100 Most Inspiring People in the life science industry by PharmaVOICE magazine and in 2011 she was the recipient of PMRG’s R.R. Fordyce Award.
Jeffrey Miller, President & CEO, Burke, Inc.; Treasurer
A 22-year veteran of Burke, Jeff is President and CEO. In addition to leading Burke, he is instrumental in directing Burke's research and development initiatives, including efforts focused on the effective use of the Internet that has helped inform the industry about online panel quality issues. Jeff frequently conducts tutorials and leads workshops, including Burke Institute seminars, on the effective use of online research methods.
Jude A. Olinger, CEO, The Olinger Group; Chair-Elect (2015)
Jude founded The Olinger Group with a desire to bring innovative state-of-the-art research solutions to his clients. His more than 25 years of market research experience and being surrounded by a team of experts affords him the opportunity to work with clients in a variety of industries, offering them a complete array of design, analysis, and methodological tools appropriate to their unique business needs. He is active in numerous professional market research organizations. He is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA) Marketing Research Association (MRA), and ESOMAR. Despite losing its offices when New Orleans flooded after of Hurricane Katrina, Jude successfully led The Olinger Group through the crisis, and the company continues to grow and prosper. He shares his experience and hard earned expertise in disaster recovery, crisis management and preparation for business interruptions widely. Jude is active market research community as a board member of CASRO, speaker, presenter, and moderator. As a spokesperson for the industry and the firm, Jude has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Travel Counselor, and other various publications. Jude recently completed two terms as President of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) New Orleans Chapter. Jude will serve as CASRO Board Chair in 2015.
Rahul Sahgal, CEO, Annik Technology Services Pvt Ltd.; Secretary
Rahul is the founder and CEO of Annik Technology Services Pvt Ltd, a leader in providing market research and data analytics support services globally. Having spent many years in the US working with some of the global leaders in market research, including NFO, now part of TNS, Rahul started Annik after returning to India in 2000. Initially providing software development services, the company started offering data services in 2002 after which the company quickly grew from less than 20 to over 200 in a couple of years. Today, with 450 employees, Annik is recognized as the pioneer of the market research KPO space. Rahul has a total of 17 years experience working in the global market research and data management spaces and is a frequent speaker at conferences. He has a Masters Degree in Physics from the University of Bridgeport (Connecticut, USA) and speaks fluent French. Having lived in many different countries and cultures, he considers himself a global citizen.
Michael Brereton, Past Chair (2013)
Michael was named President and CEO of Maritz Research in October of 2003. In this role he has general management responsibility for Maritz' global operations. Prior to becoming president, Michael was the North America Managing Director having responsibility for Maritz Research businesses headquartered in the United States and Canada. Previously Michael served as Group Vice President for Maritz' Global Automotive Research Group. He has also held other management positions with Maritz in its Detroit, St. Louis and Chicago operations. Prior to joining Maritz in 1987, Michael was involved in advertising research, future product planning research, and corporate segmentation while employed at General Motors of Canada. He is currently a member of the Master of Marketing Research Program Advisory Boards at Southern Illinois University and Michigan State University. Michael has served as the Advisory Board Chairman of the CASRO Institute for Research Quality (CIRQ) and is the Board Chairman for CASRO. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan and a Master of Business Administration degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
Daniel Coates, President, Ypulse
A serial entrepreneur within the research industry, Dan is President of Youth Pulse, Inc. and a veteran in the online research space. Prior to Ypulse, (formerly SurveyU), Dan held positions as President of Globalpark Inc. (acquired by QuestBack), Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Polimetrix (acquired by YouGov), Vice President of the Online division of SPSS (acquired by IBM), and a co-founder of PlanetFeedback.com (acquired by Neilsen Online). The first decade of Dan's career was spent developing Interactive divisions at Burke and Millward Brown, as well as the Angus Reid Group (acquired by IPSOS).
Tyler McMullen, President, MarketVision Research
Tyler is President & CEO of MarketVision Research, and has responsibility for the strategic direction of the firm. MarketVision is a custom marketing research firm and a Honomichl Top 50
company, founded in 1983. Tyler is actively involved in the marketing research industry, and has chaired CASRO conferences and currently sits on the CASRO Financial Survey Committee. Prior to joining MarketVision, Tyler was Director for Sabre Holdings and AMR Corporation in Dallas. He received an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia and a BA in mathematics and economics from Vanderbilt University. Tyler is an active member of the Cincinnati chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), and sits on the Boards of the Indian Hill Public Schools Foundation and the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame.
Finbarr O’Neill, President, J.D. Power
Finbarr is President of J.D. Power, a global leader in providing metrics and valuable insights regarding customer satisfaction and quality. He is responsible for the company’s worldwide operations, including the headquarters office located in Westlake Village, California, as well as seven domestic offices and 11 international offices. Prior to joining J.D. Power in 2008, Finbarr was vice chairman and CEO of Reynolds and Reynolds, a global provide rof dealership management software and services. He also held positions as co-chairman, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America,Inc. from 2003 to 2005, and president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America from 1998 to 2003. Finbarr joined Hyundai Motor America as general counsel in February 1985. Previously, he was employed by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. as senior counsel, following seven years of law practice in New York at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagherand Flom, one of the nation’s largest law firms. Finbarr has served as chairman of the board of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a juris doctorate from Fordham University Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
Craig Overpeck, Chief Technology Officer, M3 Global Research
Craig created MDLinx.com, the largest specialty physician website in the USA, and drives the innovation in the Global Research group for M3 Inc. Craig received his B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Ursinus College in Pennsylvania and M.S. in Clinical Science at Villanova University. Jeff previously served as the Global Managing Director of Innovation and Strategy, ORC International. During his 25-year tenure with the firm, Jeff served a variety of roles but has always maintained his passion for serving the strategic information needs of his clients. He works with many of the world's leading corporations serving as a strategic advisor and trusted information counselor across a range of business issues. His particular area of focus is brand and reputation management, largely for global financial services firms. Jeff speaks and publishes frequently on this topic. Jeff is also responsible for the development of the CNN relationship, now in its third year. The CNN/ORC Poll is recognized globally for its accuracy and objectivity. The Poll owns the distinction of precisely projecting the results for the 2008 US Presidential election.
David Richardson, Partner, Artemis Strategy Group
Prior to starting Artemis in 2006, Dave was President of WirthlinWorldwide and then Group President of Harris Interactive when it acquired WirthlinWorldwide in 2004. He was part of the team that built WirthlinWorldwide into one of the largest and most respected brand research and strategy advisors to major corporations, associations and nonprofit organizations around the world. Dave is committed to ensuring that Artemis provides innovative and potent messaging research and advice that solves the inherent challenges in marketing and policy communications. He has a BA from Yale and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute. He currently serves on the Humphrey Institute Advisory Board and is a board member and former board chairperson of the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation, sponsor of the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. Dave served as Board Chairman of CASRO in 2005.
David Rothstein, CEO, RTi Research
David has built a solid track record of developing research-based, market-focused solutions to solve strategic problems for RTi’s clients. As an owner and principal of RTi, David sets the strategic vision for the company and leads the highly talented staff to achieve both company and personal goals. A key priority is ensuring that the firm lives and breathes its overarching partnership-based business philosophy: Know. Act. Succeed. Under David’s leadership, the firm has grown to become one of the top 50 research companies in the U.S. David is a past chair of CASRO’s Annual Conference. He began his career at Xerox where, with an MBA from the William E. Simon School of Business (University of Rochester) and a BS in Industrial Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, he joined the company’s army of financial analysts. David moved up through sales and marketing positions before leaving for RTi and the world of market research.
Merrill Shugoll, President, Shugoll Research
Merrill is president of Bethesda, Maryland-based Shugoll Research. She created the full-service research division of Shugoll in 1984 and has 29 years of experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research. She has served on the National Board of Directors of the Marketing Research Association, is a past president of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Chapter of the American Marketing Association and is currently active in the Qualitative Research Consultants Association and the Washington Ad Club.
George Terhanian, Chief Research & Analytics Officer, The NPD Group
Prior to joining The NPD Group in 2014, George worked at Toluna, most recently as Group Chief Strategy & Products Officer. Previously, George served in a variety of roles for nearly fourteen years at Harris Interactive, including President, Global Solutions; President, Harris Interactive Europe; and President, Global Internet Research. He also oversaw the Harris Poll. Earlier in his career, George taught in elementary and secondary schools and worked briefly in the Inspector General’s Office of the USDE. He also served an appointment as an American Educational Research Association (AERA) Fellow at the National Center for Educational Statistics, and received a dissertation fellowship from the AERA. George received a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ed.M. from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College. George is a member of the board of directors of the Advertising Research Foundation. Through the years, he has served on committees or advisory groups for organizations such as the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research, the US Department of Education (USDE), the British Polling Council, and the American Social Health Association. His methodological expertise lies in the design and analysis of multi-mode studies. George is a featured author for Quirks Magazine, Marketing Research Magazine, and the International Journal of Market Research.
