CASRO fulfills its Mission through work on these and other efforts:
Government & Public Affairs Program: The CASRO GPA team monitors state and federal legislation, lobbies for and against proposed bills when appropriate, and proactively has run issues campaigns and industry communications programs on legislation, regulations, and the value and professional standards of research. CASRO has become a respected resource for government agencies and legislators on research process, practice, and professionalism, an advocate of industry self-regulation that obviates the need for government regulation, and a major voice in support of the value of surveys, polls, market research, and public opinion research to our global society.
CASRO Education: CASRO hosts conferences, workshops, and webinars, open to both members and non-members, that teach skills necessary to conduct market research; address current issues affecting research and research businesses; or focus on professional development within industry segments or business categories. All events seek to provide objective points of view. CASRO's Annual Conference is a summit meeting of the leaders and senior management of CASRO member companies to discuss research and industry trends, business management and operations, and outside forces that affect the industry or research organizations.
Financial Reports on Research Businesses: Each year companies utilize the benchmarking data provided in the CASRO Financial Survey Report and the CASRO Compensation Survey Report. These reports are free to member companies that participate and provide data analyses on research business revenues, operations and management cost components, compensation ranges, and business and service trends.
Research Resources: Guidelines for business practices and research quality complement the CASRO Code of Standards. CASRO also provides model language, policies, contracts, and agreements regarding how research companies can meet the privacy requirements for data and personal information collection, storage and dissemination under a variety of federal and state laws. The CASRO Board and membership leaders, CASRO's legal counsel, as well as the CASRO professional staff, serve as an information and reference resource to CASRO members, the industry, the public, media, and government decision-makers.
Global Research Issues
CASRO is a founding member of the Americas Research Industry Alliance (ARIA) and the Global Research Business Network (GRBN), which represents 27 national associations, more than 2500 research businesses and more than US$25 billion in annual research revenues. Through these affiliations, CASRO works together with the world's other national associations to protect and promote the business of research.
In an effort to help attract sharp, young minds to the field of market and opinion research, CASRO's Research Career Development initiative works on behalf of the entire industry by increasing awareness and interest in market research career paths among students, career counselors, faculty, and academic leaders across the country.
