Is "Free" the future of business? If it is, are you prepared to compete within this new business model? One of the most knowledgeable and insightful voices at the center of the new economy, Chris Anderson is again challenging current business thinking with his newly-published book, FREE!: The Past and Future of a Radical Price. In his presentation, Chris explains why “free” is the future of business and how to thrive through “freeconomics”—what business models look like when free has emerged as a full-fledged economy. As he did when discovering the dynamics of niche marketing in The Long Tail, Chris again articulates the new directions the economy is taking and then names the central phenomenon, giving us handles for the business opportunities they represent.

Host site of the 1998 PGA Cup Matches, The Broadmoor’s West Course features doglegs and steeply-angled greens, making for a very challenging round of golf. A combination of the original 1918 Donald Ross design and the Robert Trent Jones Sr. 1964 design, the rolling fairways and multilevel greens overlook both the city and the mountains. The West Course plays tight off the tee, with heavily tree-lined holes, and also gives players many spectacular approach shots. Huge, formidable sand bunkers seem to be everywhere, and water hazards enhance three of the par threes.
Cost: $245 per person: Includes lunch at the clubhouse, beverage service on course, and prizes.

One of the area’s most popular tours, this is an unforgettable trip to the 14,115-foot summit of Pike’s Peak. Sit back, relax and take in the splendors of Colorado as the highest cog railway in the world takes you through hidden valleys, past groves of quaking aspens and over the tundra at timberline. Colorado wildlife and panoramic fields of wildflowers surround you as the modern Swiss train heads for the summit. Pike’s Peak is home to one of Colorado’s largest bighorn sheep herds, and riders on the Cog Railway frequently see many of these magnificent animals. Once on the summit, guests will see the same unparalleled vistas which inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write “America the Beautiful”.

9:00 a.m. - Keynote Speaker:“Making Sense From The Data Explosion: Researchers As ‘Numerati’”
Every day we leave a trail of personal data simply by living in the modern world: we click web pages, flip channels, drive through toll booths, shop with credit cards, and make cell phone calls. What can be learned by sifting through this data? Can marketers use this information to manipulate our behavior -- what we buy, how we vote -- without our even realizing it? Stephen Baker speaks specifically to how this public sea of data can be used to help marketers and zeroes-in on the market researcher’s role in the process.

About Colorado Springs
Located 60 miles south of Denver and less than two hours from world-class skiing, Colorado Springs is a vacation mecca, drawing over 6 million visitors annually. Founded in 1871, the city has evolved from a quaint, Victorian spa town (the clean, dry air was good for tuberculosis patients) into an international city with nearly 400,000 residents, and many fine restaurants, museums, galleries, and specialty stores. Some of the area's most popular attractions include the U.S. Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Royal Gorge, and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The city's most prominent landmark, Pike's Peak, is also a favorite tourist destination. At 14,100 feet, it is one of Colorado's highest mountains, and inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write "America the Beautiful" over a century ago.
Outdoor activities including fly-fishing, horseback riding, rock climbing, ballooning and more can be arranged through the hotel, in addition to fun-filled site seeing tours.
Climate: At 6,200 feet above sea level, Colorado Springs is located in relatively arid country on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. Because of its wide range of elevations, Colorado Springs has a delightful mixture of plains and mountain climate. Average highs/lows for October: 63 / 34 degrees Fahrenheit.
A Special Note on Altitude:
For those who live at or near sea level, the city's altitude (6,035 feet) may take some getting used to. In order to prevent altitude sickness, visitors should:
Stay below 7,000 feet on the first day
Drink lots of fluids
Limit alcohol intake
